Netflix|Night on Earth - Ep5 Sleepless Cities

Netflix recently released “Night on Earth”, an original documentary series consisting of 6 episodes. While documentaries about wild animals are usually set in the wild, Sleepless Cities (Episode 5) sheds light on the lives of nocturnal wild animals in urban areas. This episode follows the night lives of animals in different cities and explores the impact of urban development on wild animals.

Is it ridiculous that wild boars walk into our train stations? The documentary will surprise you with how diverse and complex the situation can get. We tend to think that wild animals like elephants, leopards, Père David's deer, and hamsters are only active around forests and grasslands. What are they doing in the city centre then? Why are these diurnal wild animals featured in a documentary about nocturnal animals?

The documentary finally introduces the lives of otters in Singapore. The Singapore government has always prioritized sustainable development and has made the city one of the most suitable places for wild animals to live. Is this kind of urban planning and sustainable culture a good reference for Hong Kong?
